#5 Kingfisher downs #4 Bethany
Kingfisher, OK—Bethany, on the road for the first time in six weeks, looked like a team who had never played a road game before early in this game. Penalties, dropped passes, and small mistakes are the difference in big games, and those things cost Bethany on this night. A 16-14 defeat at the hands of Kingfisher moves the Bronchos to 5-1 on the season thus far.
The Bethany defense was once again disappointing this week racking up over 45 missed tackles and allowing 400 yards of total offense to Kingfisher. Both touchdowns were passes to talented tailback Landon Nault out of the backfield in the first half. Bethany got on the board in the 2nd quarter on a 39 yard Ryley Claborn touchdown pass to Grayson Haws with 1:32 left to go until halftime. With the score 9-7 this is when the Bethany defense did not hold up. Kingfisher went 80 yards in about 50 seconds, but even more impressively they did it completely only one pass.
Bethany did hold Kingfisher scoreless the rest of the game and added a six yard touchdown pass from Claborn to sophomore Dalton Stout in the 4th quarter to make it a 16-14 game with 3:30 to play. With two timeouts Bethany kicked it deep. Unfortunately, multiple Broncho defenders missed tackles in the backfield on 3rd and 8 that would have given Bethany the ball with just over two minutes to play. Kingfisher would go on to run out the clock and finish off the victory.

Bronchos Disappointing in Close Victory
Bethany, OK—The Bethany Bronchos came off of the open week looking like they were still on an open week against the NOAH Jaguars Friday night. A 28-21 victory for Bethany was much closer than it should have been and was indeed a very disappointing effort from the senior laden Bronchos.
Bethany scored on the first two possessions of the game and looked like they would secure another impressive victory. Unfortunately the good play did not continue for the Bronchos. On the night the stagnant Bethany offense which had been unstoppable thus far in the season managed just 250 total yards. Almost half of their normal output. The efficiency that had been in the offense through the first four games was no where to be found against NOAH.
The Bethany defense played better than the offense, but just barely, allowing over 300 yards of offense from NOAH. From a defense that had been holding opponents to around 240 yards per game this too was a disappointing outcome.
Hopefully Bethany can get things rolling again as they head into the tough part of their schedule. It begins next week as the Bronchos will travel to Kingfisher for a top five match up in class 3A. Bethany is ranked #4 while Kingfisher is ranked #5.
